Pepi McNair grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. She attended NC State University and then the Ringling School of Art for one year of study. After moving to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in 1979, she owned and operated BesType, a typesetting and graphic design studio.

Pepi enjoys painting in oils, gouache and pastels both in the studio and en plein air.
